WELCOME TO WING'S KENNELS
Home of Lonesome Dove's Shootin' Star and Wing's'Arrow

Rob and Candi Wing have lived in Goldendale, WA since 1983. They have had a variety of dogs over the years (golden retriever, two black labs, and a chesapeake/lab mix). They both love the outdoors and spend as much time as possible outside.  Rob is an avid hunter/fisherman and Candi enjoys spending as much time as she can "on the river" getting lots of fresh air and sun.

After he and his son, Chase (12 years old at the time), were led on a "wild rooster" jaunt by a pheasant with our lab "Griffey" in hot pursuit and the rooster flushing 100 yards ahead of Chase, Chase decided the Wings needed a pointer.

In 2002, Rob read an article in Ducks Unlimited about the author's "Small Munsterlander".  After further research, he determined to purchase one to replace his aging lab.

He contacted Bill Dove at Lonesome Dove's Kennel in Cranbrook, BC and got on a waiting list.  Approximately 1 1/2 years later, Rob and Candi met Bill in Spokane and picked up "Star".

Life at the Wings hasn't been the same since!  Star has been an integral part of the family--whether it is patiently waiting in the house, or in Rob's truck on the way to school or to look at land (he's a high school teacher and realtor)--Star knows she will get the opportunity to stretch her legs daily.

Rob is also a Washington State Certified Hunter Education Instructor who loves life in Goldendale.  Family, friends, and the great outdoors just a few minutes away--who could ask for more?

With the encouragement of two friends, Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife Region 3 Director, Jeff Tayer, and avid outdoorsman and Goldendale High School head basketball coach, Jay Thacker, Rob decided to breed Star. Jeff and Jay both hunted behind Star on several occasions and said they would be interested in pups.  This was the impetus to start the search for a suitable male.

It took almost nine months to find the right stud.  With the help of Dr. John Simmons of Adelshaus Kennels in Camas, WA, Rob was able to meet Jim and Stella Koertge of Ogden, UT.  They own DeJong's Lucas (Jake) and were interested in getting a pup as Jake was nearing seven years old.

The rest is history.  Jake visited for three weeks during the summer of 2007, and he and Star had a great time.  Eight puppies later, Star and Jake were proud parents.
